As part of the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, Ricky Manning Jr. is among the ten selected for the honor.

Manning, a former NFL defensive back, played on two NFC championship teams. The Carolina Panthers in 2003, and the Chicago Bears in 2006.

After his NFL career, Manning went into coaching with stints at Edison High School in Fresno as a Head Coach in 2012, in 2013-14 he was the secondary and special teams coach with Fresno City College, before joining Fresno State in 2015 as a graduate assistant working with the defensive backs.

Manning comes over to the 49ers staff after being a defensive backs assistant coach for the past two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he coached Richard Sherman, SF’s splash free agent acquisition this off-season.
