Player to Watch:

In the event of the first season ending injury, unless there is a specific position of need, the first player getting a spot is Aaron Burbridge. It was really difficult to cut him here to begin with and unfortunately he is not eligible for the practice squad either. He has impressed in practice and had solid special teams reps. If Burbridge were to impress in preseason, I think he can earn a roster spot.

Surprise Missing Names:

Cut: Joshua Garnett, Dekoda Watson

I think Kyle Shanahan is done waiting on Joshua Garnett. His clock is ticking and he honestly hasn’t done anything to prove he deserves a roster spot since he was drafted. Dekoda Watson is simply falling victim to a new and young linebacker group that will outplay him.

Practice Squad: Marcell Harris, Tarvarus McFadden, Richie James

We have heard next to nothing about Harris, but the hard-hitting sixth rounder has just returned from injury. He deserves a chance to prove himself and could see himself moving to the roster after finally getting to get on the field. Tarvarus McFadden hasn’t been great in practice so far, but we will see what happens when the lights come on and its game time. Richie James has potential but is just in an extremely competitive WR group.

Injured Reserve: Kentavius Street

Street tore his ACL in a workout for the Giants before the draft so it would be a miracle to be getting him back any time soon. Nevertheless, he is a player that we want around to invest in the future.
