The San Francisco 49ers have officially announced that they have decided to bring in veteran Tom Savage to the quarterback group per Head Coach Kyle Shanahan. The former fourth round pick buy the Houston Texans passed for 2,000 yards, five touchdowns, seven interceptions with a 57.7 completion percentage in his three seasons with the team. The move adds some insurance to the position in case of injury as the Niners were very thin behind starter C.J. Beathard. Savage will compete with inexperience rookie Nick Mullans for the backup job. In an corresponding move the 49ers released tight end Cole Wick.
