The 49ers signed seven year veteran offensive lineman Mike Person to secure more experience to the overall positional group. He was drafted by San Francisco in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Montana State but was released by the team on August 31, 2012. He is likely to be just a depth signing for training camp and help fill out the 90 man roster but he will also have an opportunity to battle for a backup role. Person received a 70.5 PFF grade in 2017 while playing for the Indianapolis Colts. He started four out of the final five games for the Colts at center, Person’s was named to PFF’s Team of the week in his first start versus Jacksonville getting a 88.0 grade allowing zero pressures from 41 pass blocking snaps. The versatile lineman could provide for solid veteran depth behind newly acquired Weston Richburg, if he is able to secure a roster spot.
