Rumors emerged earlier in the week that the 49ers’ new franchise quarterback (recently extended) wanted his center back with the team this year as well. As it turns out, whatever Jimmy wants, Jimmy gets.
The 49ers announced a three-year contract extension for pending free agent center Daniel Kilgore. The deal is reportedly worth nearly $12 million with $7 million in guarantees, per Ian Rapoport. He is a center, who can also play guard, has spent his entire career with the 49ers since being drafted in the 5th round in 2011. He remains one of two players left from the 49ers Super Bowl roster.

Kilgore struggled early in the season and that had most fans wanting SF to allow him to walk. In the 11 games before Garoppolo arrived, Pro Football Focus had Kilgore ranked 23rd among starting centers. Once Garoppolo took over under center, the entire offensive line looked significantly better. Kilgore specifically finished those 5 games ranked 8th by Pro Football Focus. Perhaps he can continue his streak of success with his best friend Jimmy Garoppolo.

Solid Jimmy G. joke, there.
