The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of G Jonathan Cooper to a one-year deal on Tuesday. 49ers General Manager John Lynch released a statement on the signing:

“Having started 27 games in four NFL seasons, Jonathan brings great experience to the interior of our offensive line. We look forward to him competing for a starting job at guard, while also bringing a veteran presence to our locker room. Jonathan is a welcome addition to our team.”

The Athletic’s David Lombardi notes how Cooper had offseason surgery, but is on track to be ready in time for the 49ers’ offseason program.

Cooper has a Pro Football Focus grade of 67.0 for 2017. He was originally drafted seventh overall in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Cooper spent last season with the Dallas Cowboys, and started the last 13 games of the season at left guard.
